Forth Ports Notice to Mariners

The Forth Yacht Clubs Association has links to many sailing clubs in the area, many useful links and also a guide to many cruising destinations in the Forth.

Port Edgar Marina & Sailing school offers a five day dinghy cruising course incorporating the RYA Seamanship and Day Sailing modules. The course is recommended by a contributor to this Pilot. Follow links to adult dinghy courses from their home page.

Port Edgar Marina & Sailing certainly used to hire Wayfarers and Wanderers, though this is no longer evident from their website. Might be worth contacting them.

Access Rights

Thanks to the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, responsible access to most land and inland waters in Scotland is permitted for recreational purposes. What this means is set out in the Outdoor Access Code.

The Scottish Marine Wildlife Watching Code  offers advice for all those who want to watch marine wildlife responsibly around Scotland - whether they are on the shore or at sea. It's not a law or regulation but its over-riding purpose is to raise awareness and offer practical guidance to help protect vulnerable wildlife.
